We really want to kick it (pun intended thank you) with the designers over at Common Projects. These guys are ingenious creators of some very awesome, yet comfortably simple shoes. We can’t get over how cool their designs actually are and it has taken a toll on our wallet and closet space… again. At least our feet and wardrobes are happy for the time being.
There are many destinations which are increasingly becoming fashion led. The Italian city of Milan and the men that live there are known for their influence upon men’s fashion on the catwalks. Milan itself is a retail haven, complete with outlets and high fashion boutiques, therefore, it cannot be wrong to suggest that fashion is part of Milan’s tradition. From following style blogs such as The Satorialist, it’s clear that there is a certain unspoken code of conduct which many men in Milan appear to take on board. This code of conduct is somewhat encapsulated in Armani’s phrase, ‘The essence of style is a simple way of saying something complex’. Simple style being characterised by the classic Gucci loafers, turtleneck jumpers, fine cut suits and borsalino hats. However, it’s not just items such as these which seem to define the difference between being well dressed and having Italian style. Qualities such as posture, grace and elegance all contribute to defining that unique Italian style. Italian men never skimp on tailoring and achieving that ‘effortless look’ is never top of their list. Instead, Italian style is all about looking groomed and well kept.
Therefore my top five tips to achieve that Italian style is:
1. Good tailoring
2. Relax
3. Keep things simple
4. Add a little bit of colour e.g a good scarf
5. Good shoes
Whoa, these two tone, leather and suede high-tops from Hummel are something else, aren’t they? Your feet will be happy from the high quality of the Stadil High CPH and you have a variety of colors to play around with. Although they’re a little bright, we’re sure you can incorporate any pair with your normal attire. We have admitted in the past that we have a problem with shoes, but we’re ok with it. The main reason is that designers keep on making awesome kicks and depriving ourselves of that talent is worse than spending all our disposable income – well, it makes sense in our heads. A perfect example are the shoes from Energie. They offer a ton of cool styles with an assortment of different color combos. How could we not at least try some of these on… and then buy all of them?
I can safely say that I know most of you men out there aren’t huge fans of shopping, let alone denim shopping. So many options, so little time, right? Well, this rad store, Brooklyn Denim Co isn’t your typical denim spot. Located in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn BDC offerings include denim favorites Levis, Citizens of Humanity, MiH and Jean Shop among many other greats, oh, and did I mention there are vintage classics as well? But the magic doesn’t end there guys; if you’re lucky (which you obviously are) one of the three owners may personally assist you in putting the finishing touches on with leathers, belts and shirts thrown into the mix. Okay, so why is BDC a place to see and been seen (oh, and shop)? Because it’s dedicated to you and denim and the unique history and culture culminated in good ole’ Williamsburg. I promise you won’t find a denim shop anything like BDC. So,what are you waiting for? Head down and get your denim shop on!
Ted Baker started his career designing shirts out of Glasgow, UK and now he creates everything from accessories to dresses. One thing that we especially like from his collection are his shoes and there are no finer pair than the VIHO. These smooth criminals are made of high grade leather, have a stacked heal and a textured synthetic sole. They will make you look good and sophisticated in any outfit. And remember, you know they are of the highest quality if Ted Baker put his name on them.
Ladies, slip on your heels and wear your best dress, we’ve got a new poster in town. We’ve all seen all of the glamorous swag that men can attain, however, what about the ladies? I’m here to sprinkle a little bit of estrogen to this testosterone filled magazine. Don’t worry gentlemen I won’t take up your man-space. I’m just here to give a woman’s point of view on men’s fashion and menswear inspired fashion, perhaps give some pointers here and there, and post the latest trends to keep you in the loop.
Speaking of menswear inspired pieces, the perfect accessories for such outfits would be a quilted Chanel leather bag and black peep toe Louboutin shoes.
